Dr. Alan Topal, owner of Mountainview Animal Hospital since 1996. Dr. Topal attended Tufts University and was awarded his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1988. Originally from Suffern, New York, he was an equine practioner at Belmont Race Track before moving to Columbia County. He is a veterinary practioner whose professional interests includes surgery, ophthalmology, orthopedic procedures and newer procedures such as stem cell therapy. Dr. Tyler Mort was raised on a farm in Ghent, New York, where his passion for animal care and agriculture began at a young age. As a proud 4-H member, he spent much of his youth raising and showing animals at the county fair, solidifying his early aspiration to become a veterinarian.
At 19 years old, Dr. Tyler moved to Chile to attend veterinary school, where he completed his degree in veterinary medicine while studying in both Spanish and Portuguese. His time in South America proved to be deeply formative. Beyond his studies in Chile, he gained a world of veterinary and life experience through hands-on externships and practical training in Brazil and Argentina, as well. These experiences exposed him to a wide range of veterinary practices, animal health systems, and cultural perspectives, shaping him into a well-rounded and globally informed practitioner.
After earning his degree, Dr. Tyler returned to New York and began his career practicing equine medicine. During this time, he also founded The HorseWatch, a technology company focused on innovative solutions for horse care and monitoring.
While his roots began in large animal practice, Dr. Tyler now works happily as a small animal veterinarian, where he enjoys building relationships with pets and their families in his local community.
He lives in his hometown of Ghent with his wife, Molly (also a veterinarian) and their three beloved pets: Copper and Wrangler, their two dogs, and Pumbaa, their notably plump and charismatic cat.
